Fortnite overshield explained: how it works and what it is

Things have changed in Fortnite season 3 Chapter 2, and one of the main changes comes in the way of disabling construction. Your overshield has a maximum of 50 damage you can receive before it runs out.

When you receive damage initially, it will be your overshield that will receive the blows first, instead of your standard shield, or health if you have not yet burst some shields in a game.

However, unlike its standard shield, if it remains out of danger during sufficient time, your overshield will begin to recharge. From our time in the game so far, it seems that you must avoid getting harm for about 5 seconds before your overshield begins to recharge.

The good news is that it means you do not have to look for any specific item to upload your overshield in Fortnite. Just find a cozy hiding place and wait until the shield is refilled again.
